Luis Diaz has officially joined Bayern Munich, one of Germany’s top football clubs.
The transfer was finalized for a reported fee of €75 million (₦126 billion), with additional bonuses based on performance.
Bayern confirmed the signing on Wednesday, revealing that the Colombian star agreed to a five-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2029.
The team’s CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, praised Diaz, calling him “among the finest left-wingers in the Premier League.”
“His winning mentality from Liverpool is exactly what we need at Bayern. He has lifted trophies everywhere he’s played,” Dreesen added.
During his time with Liverpool, Diaz secured the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
At his official presentation, Diaz shared his enthusiasm about moving to the six-time Champions League winners.
“Joining Bayern is a dream come true,” he said.
“They are a global powerhouse. I aim to contribute with my style and attitude to help the team succeed.
Winning every available trophy is the target, and we’ll push for it together.”
Last season, Diaz thrived under Liverpool’s manager Arne Slot, netting 17 goals in 50 matches as the team won their 20th league title.
His absence from Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against AC Milan sparked speculation, which has now been confirmed with this transfer.
Bayern’s move for Diaz comes after Jamal Musiala’s severe injury, which will keep him out for an extended period.
Diaz’s addition is set to bolster Bayern’s attack with speed, flair, and versatility ahead of the Bundesliga and Champions League campaigns.
