Carlo Ancelotti Appointed Brazil Coach From May 26

Carlo Ancelotti has been appointed as Brazil’s head coach, starting May 26.

He will assume the role after completing the current season with Real Madrid.

The 65-year-old will make history as Brazil’s first permanent foreign manager, overseeing World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Ecuador in June.

The Brazilian FA (CBF) described the appointment as a “historic union of two legends,” emphasizing Brazil’s five World Cup titles and Ancelotti’s unmatched success in European football.

While this marks Ancelotti’s debut in international management, he arrives with an illustrious club career, being the only coach to win all of Europe’s top-five leagues.

Brazil, the most successful national team in history, has sought a fifth head coach in under three years after parting ways with Dorival Junior in March.

Since rejoining Real Madrid in 2021, Ancelotti has secured two LaLiga and Champions League doubles. However, following a recent El Clasico loss to Barcelona, his final season in Madrid will end without trophies.

His last match at the Bernabeu will be against Real Sociedad in the final La Liga fixture.
