Liverpool’s Diogo Jota, who tragically died on July 3, had recently posted on Instagram about his wedding to Rute Cardoso, held on June 22.
This became his last social media update.
Amonpoint News previously reported that Jota and his brother, André, lost their lives in a car crash in Zamora, Spain.
Their Lamborghini spun off the road after a sudden tyre failure while passing another car and then burst into flames.
Liverpool expressed profound grief over the loss, calling his death “heartbreaking.”
On July 2, 2025, Jota shared a clip of his wedding ceremony with longtime partner Rute Cardoso, which occurred on June 22 in Porto.
Accompanying the footage, he captioned: “A memory forever cherished 🤍”
Spanish authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the crash’s exact circumstances.
Jota signed with Liverpool from Wolves in 2020, featuring in 182 matches for the club.
In May, he celebrated winning the 2024/25 Premier League under Arne Slot, adding to earlier triumphs in the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups during his Anfield tenure.
