Legendary highlife maestro Bright Chimezie has sealed a monumental deal with Sony Music West Africa, just two weeks after a historic meeting with Afrobeats sensation Davido.
The global music giant confirmed the signing over the weekend, sharing the exciting news via a flurry of Instagram posts.
In a celebratory announcement, Sony Music declared: “SMP is thrilled to welcome the iconic Bright Chimezie into our family. The pioneer of the revolutionary Zigma sound is now part of Sony Music Publishing (SMP) West Africa!”
This milestone follows Chimezie’s recent encounter with Davido in May, where the Afrobeats superstar openly credited Chimezie’s album as the inspiration behind his hit single ‘With You,’ featuring Omah Lay.
The signing also comes on the heels of Davido’s former protégé, Mayorkun, revealing how the superstar played a pivotal role in securing his own Sony Music contract.
