Nigerian rap sensation Ice Prince recently opened up about how his career-defining track “Oleku” transformed his life overnight.

In an emotional revelation, he shared that his late mother experienced the early days of his meteoric rise before her passing.

“My mom got to see the birth of Ice Prince when ‘Oleku’ dropped… she witnessed my transformation but left us just a year later,” the artist reflected.

Though she couldn’t see the full extent of his global success, she attended several of his first major performances, cheering him on as stardom came knocking.

More than just a chart-topper, “Oleku” became a continental phenomenon. “It was surreal,” Ice Prince recalled, “One moment I’m a struggling artist, the next I’m touring Africa—Kenya, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ghana, Cameroon… South Africa. Only God could write this story.”

This breakthrough followed an intense 11-year grind in recording studios. “I lived in the studio—no degree, no 9-to-5,” he confessed. “I swept floors, managed sessions, did whatever it took until my moment arrived.”

Looking back at his journey, the rapper put it poetically: “After years of dialing, heaven finally answered.”
