A widely shared online video features two individuals asserting they are family members of Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen, accusing him of abandoning his hometown and relatives after achieving fame.

Filmed at what is identified as Osimhen’s ancestral home in his Edo State local government, the men—named Omuyiwa John and Monday Egbe—state that the footballer has not revisited his roots or aided those he once lived alongside.

They allege that they shared a grandfather with Osimhen and also provided financial help to his father during struggles.

The men recount how the family supposedly pooled resources to support Osimhen’s father upon his return from Lagos, reportedly penniless. They insisted they contributed toward the burial of Osimhen’s mother as well.

One of them explained: “We all grew up together here, attended the same primary school. When his father came back from Lagos with nothing, the family stepped in to assist. But ever since Osimhen became famous, he hasn’t returned—not even for his father’s funeral, which was held in Lagos.”

Expressing frustration, they noted that despite Osimhen’s global recognition, he allegedly severed ties with the family. One recalled how the local community celebrated his rise to stardom, even mentioning that the Edo State governor once arranged a TV in the village square so residents could watch him play.

They concluded by asking why he has not acknowledged their past support by visiting or giving back to his hometown.
