Viktor Gyökeres has disclosed he turned down offers from other teams before finalizing his €73 million transfer to Arsenal.
Gyokeres emerged as one of Europe’s top sought-after strikers after netting 97 goals in just 102 appearances for Sporting CP.
Reports indicated that Manchester United and Juventus were among the clubs vying for his signature.
In his first in-depth interview during the club’s preseason tour in Asia, when asked if he faced a tough decision, the former Brighton, Coventry, and Swansea forward remarked on Wednesday: “Yes, you always have to consider your future.
“There were other options available, but this time, the choice felt clear to me.
“Returning to England wasn’t always on my mind, but it was always a possibility while I was in Portugal.
“The Premier League is the best in the world, so playing there was always a goal. When the right opportunity came, I didn’t hesitate.”
