Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has launched a scathing attack against his political rival, former Transportation Minister Chibuike Amaechi.
Wike accused Amaechi of failing to deliver meaningful development to Rivers State during his tenure as governor, spanning eight years.
The remarks came during Wike’s monthly press briefing in Abuja, where he criticized opposition groups aligning against President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 elections.
The opposition coalition, which includes prominent figures like Nasir El-Rufai, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, recently consolidated under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to challenge Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Amaechi, a key figure in the coalition, has long been locked in a bitter political feud with Wike, with tensions showing no signs of easing.
Wike taunted, “Amaechi—what did he achieve in Rivers? He ruled in 2015, and I defeated him.
“As a powerful minister in 2019, I still overpowered him. In 2023, he backed Atiku—yet again, we emerged victorious.”
